Ötztaler Urweg “ancient path”

The “Ötztaler Urweg” invites you to discover the area as you stroll along the valley floor. It provides descriptions of natural and cultural highlights along the way.

Most sections are easy and family-friendly. Only the passages crossing the main alpine divide are difficult to rate.

Near Zwieselstein, the path splits off into the Venter valley and the Gurgler valley. There are several crossings to South Tyrol (Italy) in both side valleys of the Ötz valley.

In addition to the difficulty rating, the Ötztaler Urweg is well marked with special interpretive poles (“Stelen”) that indicate important sites, especially archeological ones, in the Southern Ötz valley.
