Ötztal Nature Park covers mainly alpine and high alpine terrain. Its characteristic landscape is shaped through the intense glaciation. Due to the large difference in altitude of about 3000m, you can find all the altitudinal zones of the Central Alps with their characteristic flora, fauna and ecosystems.

Flora – Altitudinal Zones – Habitats

Get an early start hiking up through the forest, then enjoy a short break at tree line, and finally climb through successively scarcer vegetation to the highest peaks of the Nature Park.

Fauna

As a rule, the higher the habitat, the less populated the area. The combination of species sharing the habitat also changes, the number of individuals decreases.
