We start this hike along along the Köfler Waalweg (Waal = historic irrigation channel) with the hut taxi. This varied loop hike leads from the Vordere Fundusalm up to the Fundusalm and continues then to the beautifully located Frischmann Hütte (2.192m).
In one of the huts we will make a relaxing break stop, before we continue along the highest-located Tyrolean irrigation channel, the Köfler Jochwaal. Evidently, the meadwos of the small hamlet of Köfels were irrigated and made fertile with this Jochwaal from the Middle Ages onwards.
In the area of today’s village of Köfels, a huge landslide with consequences for the history of the valley occurred some 9,500 years ago. Explore, learn, experience…
