The small moor lake called Brandsee on Amberg near the Haiminger Sattel offers an ideal home for a variety of special plants and animals due to its numerous micro-habitats.

We’ll “net” the charismatic mountain newts and the deep black tadpoles of the common toad.

We consider how the rat tail larva can breathe underwater and why we should not swim in this lake: The leeches that live here are not the reason...
